For Immediate Release: Three Rancho Cordova City Council Candidates Receive SCDSA Endorsement

Sacramento, CA –  The Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (SCDSA) Board of Directors has voted to endorse three candidates running for Rancho Cordova City Council:  Mayor David Sander, and incumbent Council Members Robert McGarvey and Donald Terry.

Mayor David Sander was elected to the first City Council when the City incorporated in 2003 and reelected in November 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.  He served as Mayor in 2007, 2012, and 2016 and as Vice Mayor in 2006, 2011 and 2019.


Council Robert J. McGarvey was elected to the first City Council in 2002 and reelected in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. He served as Vice Mayor in 2005, 2010, 2014 and 2018, and as Mayor in 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2019.

Council Member Donald Terry was elected to the City Council in 2012 and reelected in November 2016.  He served as Mayor in 2017 and as Vice Mayor in 2016.

“We have many SCDSA members assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department, with whom the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office holds a contract for law enforcement services.  We are endorsing these three candidates because they have a proven track record of making decisions regarding pubic safety that benefit both our members and the residents of the City of Rancho Cordova they protect,” according to SCDSA President, Kevin Mickelson.
