Sacramento, CA- The Board of Directors of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (SCDSA) has endorsed Congressman Mike Thompson for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 4th Congressional District. Thompson was first elected to Congress in 1998 after previously representing California’s 2nd District in the State Senate. He currently serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means, including as Ranking Member of its Tax Subcommittee and as a member of its Health Subcommittee. Before entering public office, Thompson served in the U.S. Army with the 173rd Airborne Brigade during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart. His family also has direct ties to public safety, including a son who serves as a deputy sheriff and another who serves as a firefighter.
Congressman Thompson stated, “I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association. I’m grateful for the trust they’ve placed in me and for the dedication of the deputies who work every day to keep our communities safe. I look forward to working together to support public safety, strengthen our community, and ensure our law enforcement officers have the resources they need to do their jobs effectively.”
“Congressman Mike Thompson understands the sacrifices made by law enforcement families because public safety is personal to him. As the father of a law enforcement officer, Mike understands that behind every badge is a family that shares in the sacrifices of this profession. Throughout his service in Congress, he has consistently recognized the work of law enforcement and first responders and supported investments that strengthen the safety of the communities he represents. We value leaders who listen to the men and women doing this job and understand what their families carry with them. SCDSA is proud to support Congressman Mike Thompson for re-election.” – Sergeant Nathan Seger, President of SCDSA.
